Q.  What kind of work does Rent-a-Son's handyman division provide?

A. Rent-a-Son's Handyman service is a full-service repair and maintenance services specializing in all of hte handyman tasks around your home or office as well as larger projects and small renovations.  We currently do not house any licensed electricians or plumbers but are fully able to help you troubleshoot related problems.  We can also arrange for a licensed electrician or plumber to serve you but cannot act as fast with those services as our others.

Q.  Who is sent to my house to do the work?

A.  All of our "sons" are fully insured and covered by WSIB.  We have a  rigorous recruiting process that carefully screens ot unqualified applicants.  After selecting the right candidates we perform backgournd checks, reference chekcs and provide a two tier training program.  Our "sons" are polite, courteous, punctual and proactive in their approach to tackle your home improvement projects.

Q.  How do I schedule a service appointment?

A.  there are two ways to schedule our services; email (or online request) or phone.  We will create a customer file for you and then prepare a job task request form.  A confirmation letter is always sent out to you via email sot hat you have a written statement and detailed outline of the work we are coming to do.

Q.  Does Rent-a-Son do electrical work?

A.  No. Unfortunately we cannot do any electrical work however in some cases we can arrange for a licensed electrician to do the work for you.

Q.  Can I get an estimate for my project?

A.  We do provide free estimates for all large projects and work that we feel needs to be seen before we commit to the job.  In an effort to bring you into the process, all jobs are setup with what we call a "target duration goal".  This target duration goal will be further assessed at the beginnin of the assignment by our technicians and reconciled if needed.  We do our best to hit every target we set and you will be notified at the beginning of the project if the technician feels more time is needed to complete the work.  If we do the job in less than the target time you are charged only fo rhte total hours worked.

Q.  How soon canI get a handyman to my house?

A.  Rent-a-Son understand our customers' needs for quick-response service.  Most small projects can be turned around in 24-48 hours.  Larger projects take more time as we need to plan and design a project outline.  We know that speedy service is very importatn to our customers and we make every effort to keep handymen available at all times.

Q.  I have been "burned" by a Handyman before, how do I know that I can trust you?

A.  Rent-a-Son has become a trusted household name for more than 4000 clients in the GTA (and growing).  You deserve to know what the Rent-a-Son difference is:

  • You will always get a confirmation letter stating your target duration time, job date, job starting time and a detailed outline of the job - including materials and equipment

Q.  Does Rent-a-son bring tools and supplies?

A.  Yes.  All of our "sons" bring their own tools and some general supplies to the job.  Upon booking a job you will receive a confirmation letter and on this letter there will be a list of tools and supplies that the technician will be equipped with.  If specialty tools are required then we will let our "son" know ahead of time sot hat they can be prepared for the job.

Q.  Who provides the materials that are not standard on all jobs?

A.  Supply of materials is the customer's choice.  If materials are needed outside of our standard equipment and material kit, then a material pick up charge will apply if we are responsible for picking up.  if you would like to save on that charge, we encourage you to arrange before hand for the materials and supplies for the job.  In situations where you are in need of something that has different styles, we strongly encourage you arranging them before our technician arrives.

Q.  Are the people you send to my home insured?

A.   Yes.  All of our employee's are covered by WSIB for personal insurance and Rent-a-Son is also covered for liability insurance.

Q.  Is the work guaranteed?

A.  Yes.  All of our work is guaranteed for 1 year.
